The sky was favourable at least over the circuit for the KZ qualifying, but the drivers, unlike usual, didn’t hang around before taking to the track after the green flag was waved. The unfortunate Paolo De Conto (Birel / TM) retired before he completed one lap. Arnaud Kozlinski (Intrepid / TM) headed up the field with a significant time of 50” 654, so the game was on. Rick Dreezen (Zanardi / Parilla) upped the pace, Patrik Hajek (Praga / Parilla) took over from Henri Kokko (CRG / Parilla). Dreezen returned with 50”062, and Kozlinski responded with 50” 055. Dreezen then went under 50” on the final lap – 49” 871 – Kozlinski retained second position ahead of Jorrit Pex (CRG / TM), Hajek, and Davide Fore (CRG / TM).
The second session started with a very strong field, and no stranger to the presence of more and more big, dark clouds. From the second lap Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex) set a 50” 472 before Jonathan Thonon (Praga / Parilla) and Anthony Abbasse (Sodi / TM). Then Felice Tiene (CRG / Maxter) took the lead, followed by Thomas Laurent (Tony Kart / Vortex). Thonon came back with 50” 190 ahead of Ardigo. Abbasse responded, followed by Bas Lammers (Formula K / Parilla). Ardigo was below 50” Tiene also improved once again, and concluded with 49” 882, 8/100 ahead of Ardigo and Laurent by a tenth.
Rick Dreezen narrowly kept pole, while the young French driver Thomas Laurent was in 4th position overall.
